Our history

2009

Formed as a 'Local Authority Trading Company' by Essex County Council. We launched across Essex with older people day services, learning disabilities and autism day services, short-term care at home, sight and hearing services and delivering mobility equipment.

2012

Delivering a short-term home care service on behalf of the County Council, helping people needing to regain confidence and independence in their own home following a spell of ill health, surgery or an accident.

2014

We commenced the Essex Equipment contract, delivering mobility and living aid equipment across Essex an behalf of Essex County Council.

2015

Essex Cares Limited is rebranded to ECL

2019

Delivering a short-term home care service on behalf of Havering Borough Council, helping people needing to regain confidence and independence in their own home following a spell of ill health, surgery or an accident.

2022

We launched a pioneering Ward-Led Enablement Pilot at Colchester hospital, to get older hospital patients up and moving around as soon as possible after their treatment to improve their recovery time.
